If you’ve shopped at Forever 21 recently you should check your card statements.
It’s no surprise companies are being hacked. It was not too long ago that Equifax one of the main credit bureaus found it’s self in the middle of a security breach.
Big retailers are no stranger to security breaches. This year alone The Buckle, Sonic, and even Arby’s have announced they’ve had some sort of breach. The biggest of them all would be the Yahoo breach that was announced in 2016 but happened in 2013.
The latest big retailer to find it’s self in the middle of one is Forever 21. We don’t know a whole lot but here’s what we know.
What We Know About The Forever 21 Security Breach
“FOREVER 21 is notifying its customers that it recently received a report from a third party that suggested there may have been unauthorized access to data from payment cards that were used at certain FOREVER 21 stores.”
“it appears that only certain point of sale devices in some FOREVER 21 stores were affected when the encryption on those devices was not in operation. The company’s investigation is focused on card transactions in FOREVER 21 stores from March 2017 – October 2017.
Because the investigation is continuing, complete findings are not available, and it is too early to provide further details on the investigation. FOREVER 21 expects to provide an additional notice as it gets further clarity on the specific stores and timeframes that may have been involved. “
They weren’t specific about which stores or even which states were breached, so to be on the safe side if you’ve shopped at Forever 21 you should check your bank statements.
They are still investigating, but when they update with more information on the Forever 21 security breach We’ll be sure to let you know.
