This year is the first year that all of our children are in some type of school. Our oldest is in 1st gade and the younger two started Pre-k and Pk-3. And yes I am still a stay at home mom (for now). Putting our youngest in daycare has been one of the best decisions we’ve made. Putting my kids in daycare made me a better mom!
I know what your thinking. How does sending your kids to daycare every day make you a better mom?
The youngest two are only in school until lunchtime, so about 4 hours per day.
Being a stay at home mom is hard. You’re at home or with kids most of the day. There’s really no time for you to just sit back and take time for yourself.
While they are at school I get the time to relax, clean, and just do things that I need to do or just want to do.
I use a lot of the time that they’re at school to do chores. Grocery shopping (which saves me money on junk), freezer cooking, and mopping floors without kids running through is like winning the lottery.
3: Kids and I socialize
My kids are happier. Sissy has made friends and she loves her teacher. She could go on all day everything she’s doing. It’s also nice watching her learn new things every day. Little man is struggling a little bit as far as getting bored, but he also loves school.
It’s also nice that little man will already know some of his classmates and the school next year when he goes to the kindergarten.
It’s not just the kids socializing but me as well. I’ve joined the schools PTO and I’m getting to know moms from the school. It’s no longer getting up and staying home every day. It’s actually having to shower and leave the house. Having to be around people. It’s been fun for all of us.
4: Happier to be with my kids
I love my kids don’t get me wrong, but being a mom 24/7 stressed me out. Yes I know that’s what being a parent is, but having a few hours to get things done has changed me so much. I am more relaxed.
I enjoy doing things with my kids. I want to go outside and play, ride bikes, make art, and even sing to the top of my lungs with them. Having the alone time makes me miss them. It makes me enjoy the time I have with them.
Putting my kids in daycare has made me a better mom. I know it sounds crazy but it’s been a breath of fresh air. It’s also taken money out of our budget, but I’m ok with that. The benefits have been more than worth it
