September is an exciting month. kids are just heading back to school and some have been in school for weeks. You could say September is the calm before the storm. The month that most kids start school and us moms have a few weeks to get into a routine before all the holiday festivities. However, September comes with many opportunities for saving money! Summer is finally over unless you live in Florida. If you live somewhere it gets chilly this time of year buy for next year. If you live anywhere like Florida you know you have a few months before it really gets cold, so you could even buy for this year.
Make Money tip: Buy clothes of all sizes when you catch them really cheap especially kid clothes! Summer time next year you can sell them on Facebook yard sale sites and double your money! Shirt on sale $1? Buy them and sell for $2 or $2.50
This time of the year is when all the fun seems to happen Pumpkin festivals, haunted trails, haunted houses, family bonfires, carnivals, and fun holiday shows. It’s a great time to lower your entertainment budget because you have so many free or nearly free options this time of year.
It’s finally that time of the year. It’s not as hot but it’s not cold. That means it’s time to open those window up and save on that electric bill. Opening your windows allows you to not only air your house out but also turn the AC off which can make a drastic change in your electric bill.
While you trying to get back onto a schedule, many times that means eating fast food which can kill your budget. Instead, make sure your meal planning for your family and using freezer dinners. It will not only save you time while you figure your schedule out, but it saves money by keeping you from eating out.
I’m not a big coffee drinker but the hubby is. We save a ton by having him make his coffee at home. We skip the fancy coffee and a coffee pot that makes his coffee on a timer. I don’t have to worry about making it that early and neither does he. It’s a win for us and our wallet.
You can splurge on September 29th though because it’s coffee day and most places will be almost free.
Apple is fixing to come out the next best and greatest phone (ha!) which mean the “old” phones are going to go on sale If you’re in the market for a phone or just looking to upgrade nows the time if you want the “older” phones.

Clean that inbox
It’s almost Christmas y’all and the “best sale ever” emails are about to start. Go through your email subscriptions and clean them out, so you’re not tempted. Clearing these out of your inbox will help stop you from spending money you don’t have.
You can also delete your credit card info from your auto fill on your computer to help save you money! It’s not as easy to just click and order that way. Also, make sure you delete it from the websites you normally shop at. This will also protect your bank information!
If you want jewelry, now is the time to check out clearance. Since Christmas and valentines day is coming up the new items will start coming out, so they discount the old.
Do you want to take that dream cruise? Well if you’ve saved the money up nows the time to start booking your trip. Cruises are cheaper in September! Plus if you book it for the next few months it won’t be as crowded since we’ve just started the off season! Now’s the time for Disney y’all!
There are so many ways to save money in September, but it’s also the time to set yourself up to stay on budget the rest of the year.
