In some places, if you have a big family you might be cheaper to rent a cabin or cottage for your vacation stay. It will save you money on rooms, but you can also cook which will cut down on your eating out costs.
Find out what your hotel offers. Recently on our trip to visit the kid’s grandmother we stayed at two choice hotels. They were both great! They offered a hot breakfast which surprisingly tasted great. They had anything you could think of from biscuits and gravy to make your own waffles. The kids loved picking what they wanted, and it saved us from having to buy breakfast.
Stay in offseason. I know when you have school aged children summer is the time for vacation, but it’s also the time when hotel prices are at their highest rate. Everyone is traveling during this time. Do some research and see if you could book your vacation for the off-season time. It will save you money on your hotel but also on rental cars, plane tickets, and entertainment.
