I love to eat out. As a mom, I hate having all those dishes and mess to clean up. Eating out is just easier, but it’s not always easy to save while eating out. With the kids, myself, and my husband it can’t get expensive. It doesn’t have to, though! I want to share a few tips on how I save while eating out.
Groupon & Living social
You would be amazed what you can find on these sites! Some of the deals are amazing. I usually find deals for local restaurants for at least 30-40 percent! Sometimes I find deals that I also buy for my husbands lunch. Recently I found a popular sub shop with a 35 percent off voucher that was good for 180 days.
Kids Eat Free or Cheap
The more kids you have the bigger the savings! Some restaurants offer kids eat free nights or really cheap. Our local Texas Road House has a kids eat free night every Tuesday, Our Applebee’s has 99 cent kids meals every Sunday, and our Beef `o’ Brady’s also offers kids eat free on Tuesdays!
It’s really easy to find out what restaurants in your city offers them just go to Mykidseatfree.com. Make sure you call to verify before heading out, though.
Sign up for newsletters
Sounds odd right? But do it! A lot of companies will send you a coupon just for signing up. They will send you occasional emails on upcoming specials and a lot of times they send random freebies.
Besides the fact that waters good for your body it’s also good for you wallet. Depending on where your eating drink can range from 3-10 bucks, but most restaurants don’t charge you for water. If you with your family this could save you a good little chunk of change.
Why buy two when you can share? If you have kids order something that you can share either between yourself and kids OR you can do what I do which is buy a meal and split between the kids. If you’re with your spouse split the main items and order extra sides. Easy-peasy.
Have lunch instead
A lot of restaurants have great deals for lunch! You can spend half of what it would be for a dinner.
Buy gift cards
You can go to a website like Carpool.com and buy a gift cards with a percentage off. I have seen card for 10-25 percent off. The best thing is you can get them for fast food places too! Buy one and keep it in your car. That way you have it, so you don’t have to pay full price. Just make sure you don’t forget it.
Don’t let you eye overload your stomach
What I mean by that is don’t order more than you’re going to eat. A lot of time we order items that we’re only going to eat a few bites from, and if you do make sure you ask to a to-go box and take it home for lunch the following day!
Eat The Freebies
A lot of places offer salads, bread sticks, or other things to snack on.Eat them! If you eat them and order a smaller meal that’s less you have to pay for.
A lot and I mean a lot of companies offer birthday freebies
- Applebee’s: Get a free birthday dessert when you sign up for their email list.
- Arby’s: Get a free roast beef classic sandwich (with purchase of a small, medium or large drink) when you sign up for Arby’s Deals.
