Walmart Secrets Every Shopper should know

Whether you’re in a small town like me where Walmart is your only option, or you’re a crazy couponer and love their awesome deals, Walmart is the place to shop.

Their prices make shopping at any other store a waste of time.

As money savvy momma’s though we never pay sticker price, so here are some secrets to cut the price a little more.

Walmart Savings Catcher & App

Savings Catcher. Those two words are basically Dollar signs, and Walmart has made is so easy for you to use. There’s no checking offers, or uploading pictures or your receipt. All you have to do is put the TC number on your receipt into the savings catcher.

They then look at all the stores around you for lower advertised prices. If they find one, you get that money back.

You can also use the app to make shopping lists. If you see something in the store you love but can’t buy all you have to do is scan is on your app list for later! You can make lists private or allow others to see them. Which I love because I can allow my husband to see it.

The best part of the whole app is Walmart Pay. I can check out with my phone, use my savings catcher money, and it adds my purchases to my savings catcher without me doing anything! I don’t even carry my card with me in store now because I don’t need to. Plus, it saves your receipt on your account where you never have to worry about losing them again!

Walmart Price Match Policy

Walmart has moved away from price matching since they now have Savings Catcher, but they will price match their own website!

It’s as easy as opening Walmarts app, Scanning, and showing the cashier. Many times they are cheaper online and every penny you keep in your pocket the better off you’ll be.

Shopping Walmarts Clearance

Every Walmart is a bit different. I wish I could tell you they when they lowered clearance, but I can’t. The best advice I can give you is, get to know the people working at your store. If you shop regularly either ask their routine or just watch and you will start to see a pattern.

  • If you see a price ending in 0 or 1 it’s a final markdown, so buy it if you need it.
  • If you find an item ending in a 7, its marked at its full price.
  • After 7 comes 5, which means this was the first time it was marked down. It should go down a time or two before its final price.

Best Time To Shop At Walmart

Late at night or early morning is always going to be best. Stocking is done on the overnight shift.

Unless you’re a night owl or early bird, I wouldn’t suggest skipping sleep to shop, but if it’s nearing a holiday, it’s worth it. You’re less likely to have shoppers everywhere and checking out should be a lot easier.

Save Money On Gas

This is my Favorite! In our town, without a gift card, Murphy USA Gas stations are always cheaper, but a quick stop at Walmart saves us an extra 3 cents!

Right now you save 3 cents per gallon of gas just for using a Walmart gift card. Walmart gift cards are FREE to load, or you can buy them online and save even more!
